Around a third of health impacts from chronic diseases could be prevented by encouraging and supporting changes in lifestyle such as regular exercise, better nutrition and reduced alcohol consumption.

Helping Western Australians to avoid chronic disease will help people to live longer, happier and healthier lives. Reducing the burden of chronic disease will also benefit the workforce and economy, and ease pressure on our health system.

The WA Preventive Health Summit brings together key health promotion and public health stakeholders, and opinion leaders to explore ways we can promote healthier lifestyles, and reduce obesity and harm caused by alcohol in WA.

The one-day summit will discuss the importance of prevention, and encourage broader thinking and community engagement around what we can do to encourage healthy lifestyles to reduce and prevent obesity and harm caused by alcohol.
