Hepatitis A outbreak linked to imported frozen pomegranate arils

Anyone who has bought the Creative Gourmet brand of imported frozen pomegranate seeds from Coles supermarkets with a best before date of 21 March 2020 is being advised to not eat the product, and dispose of it or return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Only Creative Gourmet brand imported pomegranate arils sold in Coles are affected by this recall.

Fresh and frozen pomegranates sold in other stores are not affected by this recall.

Hepatitis A

Hepatitis A is caused by a virus that spreads in contaminated food or through poor hygiene.

Symptoms may include nausea, fever, lethargy, anorexia, abdominal discomfort, yellowing of the skin and eyes, dark urine and pale stools.

Anyone experiencing these symptoms should see their doctor for testing, especially if they have eaten the pomegranate products in the past two months.
