National Palliative Care Week

20 May 2019

National Palliative Care Week (19 – 25 May) is a time to encourage talk about end-of-life care wishes.

Family members including a dad, grandad, mum, daughter and son

While 82 per cent of Australians think it is important to talk to their family about how they would want to be cared for at the end of their life, only 28 per cent have done so.

It’s never too early to plan ahead, and Palliative Care Australia (PCA) has several resources that can help break the ice to start a difficult conversation.

PCA has a Dying to Talk Discussion Starter Kit (external site) which encourages people to discuss with family members their end-of-life care preferences.
