Varieties of cucumber
L to R: common cucumber, continental cucumber, Lebanese cucumber


  • Common: with soft, edible seeds.
  • Continental/burpless/seedless: longer and thinner and shrink-wrapped to seal in moisture.
  • Lebanese: measuring 10-15 cm in length with smooth dark green skin.


Choose firm, fresh, dark green cucumbers.


In refrigerator crisper. Use as soon as possible after purchase.

Serving suggestion

Slice continental or Lebanese cucumber and layer with sliced ripe tomatoes and sliced red onion. Drizzle with a little olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and sprinkle with chopped fresh herbs and freshly ground black pepper.
