COVID-19 update 12 March 2021

The Department of Health has reported no new cases of COVID-19 overnight.

The State’s total number of confirmed cases remains at 922.

WA Health is monitoring eight active cases of COVID-19 and 905 people have recovered from the virus in WA.

Yesterday 2452 people were vaccinated. To date, 15,952 West Australians have received the COVID vaccine.

Yesterday at WA Health COVID clinics 393 people presented for testing – 386 were assessed and swabbed.

To date, 28 cases of variant strains have been detected in Western Australia (20 B.1.1.7 of the strain and 8 of the B.1.351 strain).

There have been 897,976 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those, 131,859 were from regional WA.

Note: The cases of variant strains reported above are not new cases. Genome sequencing – to define the strain of the virus – is a separate laboratory process carried out after someone tests positive to COVID-19. All cases, regardless of strain, are managed by WA’s public health experts. The strains previously reported as the UK variant strain and South African variant strain will now be referred to as B.1.1.7 and B.1.351 respectively.
