The Department of Health has reported three new cases of COVID-19 overnight – a female in her 20s and a male in his 40s are in hotel quarantine after arriving from overseas. A Filipino seaman in his 50s, who was transferred from a bulk carrier anchored off the Pilbara coast, is in a COVID-19 isolation ward in Royal Perth Hospital.
The State’s total number now stands at 957.
WA Health is monitoring 11 active cases of COVID-19 and 937 people have recovered from the virus in WA.
To date, the WA Department of Health has administered 68,895 COVID-19 vaccinations, including 12,963 people who have received both doses. Yesterday, 1751 people were vaccinated.

Yesterday, 418 people attended WA Health COVID clinics, with 417 assessed and swabbed.
There have been 973,942 COVID-19 tests performed in WA. Of those, 135,752 were from regional WA.
To date, 43 cases of variant strains have been detected in Western Australia – 31 of the B.1.1.7 strain, 11 of the B.1.351 strain and one of the P1 variant (Brazilian variant).

Note: The cases of variant strains reported above are not new cases. Genome sequencing – to define the strain of the virus – is a separate laboratory process carried out after someone tests positive to COVID-19. All cases, regardless of strain, are managed by WA’s public health experts. The strains previously reported as the UK variant strain and South African variant strain will now be referred to as B.1.1.7 and B.1.351 respectively.
