WA Health is reporting no new COVID-19 cases today.
The State’s total remains at 1059. To date, 1043 people have recovered from the virus in WA.
The WA Department of Health is calling on people in the Broome township to get tested if they have COVID-19 symptoms, after the state’s wastewater surveillance program detected weak traces of the virus in the area.
This unexpected finding does not necessarily indicate there is a positive case in the community. However, people (regardless of age) with even the mildest of symptoms are asked to get tested as soon as possible as a precaution.
WA Health continues to monitor close and casual contacts of a WA FIFO worker who was a casual contact of a Queensland traveller at Perth Airport on 20 July. The traveller, who was refused entry to WA, returned to Queensland where he subsequently tested positive to COVID-19.
The FIFO worker returned a weak positive result after a COVID test on 2 August. Of the 1663 close and casual contacts identified to date, 840 have so far tested negative to COVID-19.
Anyone who visited an exposure location during the exposure periods is required to get tested immediately and self-quarantine until a negative result is received.
WA Health has removed Southbank Day Surgery as an exposure site. This has been replaced with Southbank Central (main floor entrance/foyer as well as the upper level), which is part of the same building and has the same address.
Anyone who attended these areas of Southbank Central during the exposure times must get tested immediately and quarantine until they return a negative result. People who attended Southbank Day Surgery during the exposure times are no longer required to quarantine unless they entered through the Southbank Central main floor entry foyer.
There are seven active COVID-19 cases being monitored by WA Health: two in hotel quarantine, one quarantining at home, three cases onboard the MV Darya Krishna and one crew member from the MV Darya Krishna in hospital. This crew member remains in ICU in a stable condition.
Testing clinics
Yesterday, 1032 people were swabbed at State-run clinics. A list of testing clinics is available on the HealthyWA website.**

Border controls
Western Australia has assessed New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia and Victoria as medium risk (external site) states. The Australian Capital Territory is low risk (external site). The Northern Territory and Tasmania are considered very low risk (external site).
Variants
To date, 124 cases of variant strains have been detected in Western Australia – 53 Alpha strain, 15 Beta strain, one Gamma strain and 55 Delta strain.
