Contracted Medical Practitioners

Contracted Medical Practitioners, also known as Visiting Medical Practitioners, deliver health care services to public patients in a range of Western Australia’s public hospitals.

The engagement of Contracted Medical Practitioners is regulated by the WA health system Procurement Policy Framework.

Important updates to invoicing process from 1 July 2019

The Medical Accounts Assessment System (MAAS) is used to process invoices for medical services provided by Contracted Medical Practitioners (CMPs).

From 1 July 2019, a new MAAS will replace the previous system and this will affect how CMPs invoice for their services.

As part of the transition to the new MAAS, all Recipient Created Tax Invoice (RCTI) Agreements currently in place will cease. CMPs will be expected to submit a tax compliant invoice for your claims. New CMP Provider Numbers have been issued to CMPs with current contracts, for the purposes of invoicing on a Fee for Service (FFS) basis. As part of the transition to the new MAAS, CMPs will need to ensure your invoices include this new CMP Provider Number.
