Free influenza vaccine program May, June and July 2026

From 1 May to 31 July 2026, participating immunisation providers can administer state-funded influenza vaccines to people aged 12 to 64 years who are not otherwise eligible for an influenza vaccine under the National Immunisation Program (NIP). People without a Medicare card and those travelling to Western Australia, are also eligible for a vaccine under the Free Influenza Vaccine Program (the Program).

General practices (GPs), community pharmacies, Aboriginal Medical Services, nurse practitioner clinics, corporate vaccination service providers and community health immunisation clinics may all participate in the Program.

In 2026, Fluzone® is the influenza vaccine available for the Program. A table summarising the 2026 influenza vaccine brands and cohorts they are allocated to under the NIP and state programs can be viewed as a table on the Influenza immunisation page.

Please note:

  • All influenza vaccines administered must be recorded onto the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR).
  • Fluzone® ordered for the Program should only be used for those not eligible for NIP or other state-funded influenza vaccines. Additionally, NIP-funded influenza vaccines can only be used for NIP eligible people, in accordance with the current WA Immunisation Schedule.

Eligibility

People eligible for the Program are:

  • people aged 12 to 64 years, not otherwise eligible for NIP-funded influenza vaccines, including:
  • people without a Medicare card
  • interstate or international visitors.

Ordering vaccines

Vaccines for the program can be ordered via the Onelink portal (external site).

Immunisation providers without a Onelink account can apply for an account using the Onelink account application form. More information is available on the vaccine ordering webpage.
