COVID-19 update: 26 April 2022

WA Health is reporting a total of 6,711 new cases to 8pm last night. There are currently 44,305 active cases in Western Australia.

To 8pm last night, there were 249 people with COVID-19 in hospital, 11 in ICU.

Today’s report includes 8 deaths, one in the reporting cycle to 8pm last night and 7 historical deaths.

Sadly, a man in his 80s died yesterday, and 7 historical deaths dating back to 27th of March were reported to the Department of Health.

The historical deaths include a woman and man in their 70s, a woman and two men in their 80s, and two men in their 90s.

  2. The remainder of daily cases reported (240) are yet to have a region assigned. Data will continue to be reconfigured as this information is verified.

Of the 6,711 cases, 2,203 were confirmed via PCR test, the remaining 4,508 were self-reported positive rapid antigen tests.

A total 10,262 PCR tests were conducted at either state-run or private pathology clinics yesterday.

WA has recorded 355,277 cases since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
