COVID-19 update: 20 May 2022

WA Health is reporting a total of 15,205 new cases to 8pm last night. There are currently 89,985 active cases in Western Australia.

To 8pm last night, there were 304 people with COVID-19 in hospital, 11 in ICU.

Sadly, today’s report includes five deaths which were reported to WA Health yesterday. The deaths date back to 14th of April and include a man and woman in their 90’s, a man in his 80’s, a man in his 70’s and a woman in her 60’s.

Due to confidentiality, no further information will be released by the Department.

Notes

  1. This data is based on the residential postcode of each case. The case may have an isolation address in another region.
  2. The remainder of daily cases reported (186) are yet to have a region assigned. Data will continue to be reconfigured as this information is verified.

Of the 15,205 cases, 5,559 were confirmed via PCR test, the remaining 9646 were self-reported positive rapid antigen tests.

A total of 14,990 PCR tests were conducted at either state-run or private pathology clinics yesterday.

WA has recorded 624,774 cases since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
