International students encouraged to be safe and stay well
24 February 2020
To coincide with the start of the academic year, WA Health is promoting the 'Be Safe, Stay Well' sexual health video series for international students living and studying in Western Australia.
Sexual health can be a difficult topic to discuss for people from some cultures and backgrounds, and many international students may be unaware of the risks of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in Australia.
However, it is important to talk about sexual health so that you know how to keep yourself and others safe.
Videos about sexual health in Australia
The 'Be Safe, Stay Well' videos provide information and advice about the importance of safe sex, sexually transmitted infections, health service costs, and sex and the law. They cover common health concerns such how to see a doctor, what overseas health insurance will cover, where to get information about contraception, STIs or pregnancy, and where to get help if you’re sexually assaulted.
The videos are a great starting point for international students looking for practical information about available health services and cover a range of topics:
